The Mentoring Committee and Young Alumni Committee of the Columbia University Alumni Club of Long Island would like to invite all alumni to a career development discussion with Bob Goldfarb (GS '54) on Thursday, August 21 at 7:00 pm at the Bryant Library in Roslyn, NY (located at 2 Papermill Road, Roslyn, NY).
Bob leads a management consulting firm with clients on five continents. His book, "What's Stopping Me From Getting Ahead?" is now in five languages. He has written articles for the "New York Times" Sunday Business section on the current workplace and job market. Bob meets regularly with hiring officials of corporations and non-profit organizations throughout the United States. They tell him bluntly why they hire or promote some applicants and employees while rejecting or bypassing others. His objective at our meeting is to share with participants specific actions they can take to be among those hired and promoted. The information he will share comes directly from those in positions to make or break careers. In the last two weeks he has met with CEO's in Silicon Valley, New York City, Washington, D.C. and Denver.
The career development discussion will focus on helping recent alumni understand ways to maximize the hiring and recruiting process to enhance their chances of landing a position they desire. The discussion will also center around ways more seasoned alumni can improve their chances of winning promotion and think through next steps in their career.
This program is open to all alumni. We hope you can make it! If you plan to attend, please RSVP at the link below.
